Yep, go with non-Chinese marine grade electrics for your work van. Ironic that you don't have a magnetic camera mount for your vlogging, to give you 2 hands when you need it. Sad state of American car reliability. Another great episode!

What a great video! You're an awesome dad! Children are great until they turn 4. Then, they become problematic. At age 12 they become liabilities. It's not until they go start paying taxes do they appreciate the shit we put up with raising them=)

I find it both really cool and interesting how camera tech was in 2010 and 2011. Especially because I was still in elementary school during these years. It went from these huge cameras with VHS or Cassette tapes to these small compact cameras with a microchip (Present day SD Card.)

When we were kids, our Dad had a super 8 cine camera. Every year he'd film us out and about, then at Xmas time, we would get a special edited year. Without a TV (1960) in the UK, it was a huge delight to see our year projected on a big screen.

Love your channel. Been following for about two years now and I can relate. My 26th year in pro video as well! I was literally doing the same thing 2 weeks ago: comparing how much I grossed since 2019 versus 2024 and adjusting for inflation. It’s frustrating for sure. 2020 was definitely a “reset”. I’m blessed to have work, so I don’t want to complain too loudly, but when the growth and profitability just isn’t there one has to ask hard questions. Thanks for posting this!

Thanks for this breakdown man! I think I want to do the same. I’m in my 9th year of doing this full time. Tons of people I talk to also had peaks in 2022. That was my best year. My total sales have declined since shifting more into a freelancer than production company. I still think my take home is similar. I need to track more data. 100 working days last year feels pretty solid. Stoked for this year!

I've had producers pushing back on rates the last 2 years. they'lll ask why are my rates so high ( which is bs to begin with, just keeping up with everyone else ) and my answer is simple : inflation - food, gas, everything else is more. I have to charge more to keep up so this is just an inflation adjustment. good time to be getting out, not in of video biz.
